We must heavily invest in education for our children. Investing in education ensures that our children will have the economic opportunities they need to live full and productive lives.
Every child deserves a world-class public education. Politicians have tried many disastrous reforms in the last 15 years that have left many children of the 10th district behind. Instead, I envision the federal government finally enabling professional educators the autonomy they require to truly meet the needs of their children. Working together we can roll back the disastrous reforms of the last fifteen years, and instead work together, as a community, to truly create a world-class educational system that our children deserve.
I know firsthand how hard our educators work because I have been married to an educator for over 20 years. My wife Danie was an ESL teacher for over two decades and now leads the Multilingual Department in Linden NJ. To truly fix education we need to depend on the classroom experts and ensure they have the resources they need to help our children achieve excellence.
I support the current efforts to reduce student loan debt for all of our children. While we deal with the student debt crisis, we must ensure that the student loans never again become a crisis in our country. We have to make sure that students who attend four-year schools do not have to take on any debt in order to pay for school. When I was young, we could pay for school by working a part time job. Unfortunately in today’s changing world, that is no longer the case. Therefore, ensuring that higher education is within reach for all of our students, and not just those who come from privileged backgrounds, is a goal we must never stop working towards.
